Rabbits Black Presents: The Sister Ruby Band & 8 mm @ Dakota Lounge, benefiting PATH January 26, 2013

The Sister Ruby Band is the psych-rock project of 23 year old Los Angeles based Marlon Rabenreither. Having explored a variety of line-ups, the present incarnation of SRB (Rabenreither - vocals & guitar, Laszlo - drums & percussion, Thornton - bass & guitar) is the band’s longest standing and most dynamic. Chasing diamond-cut melodies through a channel of swooning, manic sound, SRB evokes the dark undertow of the trio's West Coast roots.
According to Buzz Bands LA’s Kevin Bronson “Sister Ruby’s woozy wall of sound isn’t too far from the reverb-soaked shimmer of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, and, when the guitars are turned down, that trio’s excellent excursion into Americana, “Howl".”
The Sister Ruby Band just released two digital-exclusive singles. Both tracks—‘Oh Mercy' and ‘KO Blues’—were produced and mixed by Rick Parker (Brian Jonestown Massacre, BRMC, The Zeros). The songs pitch Rabenreither’s brutally honest vocals into a plexus of dreamy riffs and boil it black.
'Oh Mercy' is accompanied by a music video directed by Focus Creeps' Aaron Brown and Ben Chappell (Girls, Cass McCombs, Arctic Monkeys, Beach Boys). (Allison Bulger)
