January 14th, 15th, 16th (Thursday through Saturday at 8pm)

January 21st, 22nd, 23rd (Thursday through Saturday at 8pm),

January 28th, 29th, 30th (Thursday through Saturday at 8pm)

Asylum director Abbe de Coulmier favored treating patients of Charenton through artistic expression; hence his friend and most famous inmate, the Marquis de Sade, is provided paper and quills for his writing exercises.

But when the Marquis's vulgar novels - stories so obscene they drive men to murder and women to miscarry - find their way to a publisher and beyond, the Ministry decides he must be stopped. They send disciplinarian Dr. Royers-Collard to ensure that de Sade is treated with his own medicine. Add to this mix a beautifully innocent young seamstress starved for excitement, an ambitious Marquise, the insatiable Mrs. Royers Collard, a dashing young architect and a touch of the Grand Guignol and you have Doug Wright's Quills.

Raw, wickedly funny, often disturbing and sometimes even sentimental, this production is recommended for mature audiences. The play contains nudity, explicit language and sexual situations. Patrons under 17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
