Did you know that there are many Broadway shows that feature orphans as their main characters?

P’zazz Children’s Choir and Dynamix Teen Vocal Sensations perform songs of love and desperation, being lost and being found in “Broadway's Orphans” at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 21 at the Broomfield Auditorium, 3 Community Park Road in Broomfield . Tickets are $12 adults and $8 for seniors, students 12 and under and military. Reserve tickets by calling 303-460-6800 or purchase at the door.

Broadway's Orphans includes songs from the Broadway shows Annie, Oliver, The Wizard of Oz, Les Miserables and Wicked along with songs from the films Aladdin and Tarzan. Additional songs by Michael Jackson, Avril LaVigne and the Jonas Brothers fill out a fun, yet moving, evening.

Special guest include Mitch Samu who has over 200 productions as Music Director to his credit during his career. Some of his Broadway credits include “The Lion King”, “Saturday Night Fever” and “Little Shop of Horrors”. Mitch is the composer of major choral works and musicals including “Jesus, the Last Mile…”, “God's Trombones” and "Just a Miracle”. Erik Bryan has performed opera and musical theatre across the country. He was awarded the 2009 Denver Post Ovation Award for Best Actor in a Musical for his role of the Phantom in the Candlelight Dinner Playhouse production of Yeston & Koppit's "Phantom". Solo artists Jeannette Prentice, Brian Walker and Kim Dawson add to the evening's entertainment.

Jeannie Card taught in the Boulder Schools for 23 years and is the current co-director of P’zazz Children’s Choir and Dynamix Teen Vocal Sensations. Both groups have sung extensively in the Boulder-Denver area. Mrs. Card’s greatest rewards and fun come from teaching children how to sing and perform with high energy and expression!

Director/Producer Barry Brown holds the position of musical director of the 17th Avenue All-Stars.

P'zazz (for children ages 9-12) and Dynamix Teen Vocal Sensations (for teens from 13-17) are audition only groups. They both perform at least 10 times during the year. Auditions are held in the summer. Call 303-466-8275 for appointments.
