“PUTTIN' ON THE POPS”
The Colorado Women's Chorale, directed by nationally acclaimed women’s choral conductor Charlotte Adams, will present “Puttin’ On the Pops” featuring the Denver Gay Men's Chorus at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 24 at the Bethany Lutheran Church, 4500 E. Hampden Avenue. Tickets are $18 for adults and $10 for seniors and students and are available by calling 303-388-4962 or on line at www.augustanaarts.org.
In celebration of 90 years of popular music from stage and screen, the Colorado Women’s Chorale performs a fun-filled promenade down memory lane at this one night performance. “Puttin’ On The Pops” is a playful night of standards, show tunes, Jazz and the best of Broadway. This program unites CWC with the talents of The Denver Gay Men’s Chorus performing favorites that include Mister Sandman, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, Lydia, the Tattooed Lady, Java Jive, Moon River, It's a Grand Night for Singing, Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin' and a medley of popular Gershwin tunes.
Charlotte Adams, music educator, is the founder and Principal Conductor of the Colorado Women's Chorale. Over the last 30 years, she has served as a pillar of the choral music community, specifically women's choral music, in Colorado. Ms. Adams was Conductor for 2007 World Voices Australia International Choral Festival, Sydney Opera House and will be Conductor for Choral Salute to the 2008 Beijing Olympics. She is active as a choral clinician and adjudicator for choral festivals throughout the USA. Her choirs have toured throughout the USA, Canada, Australia and Europe.
Ben Riggs, Denver Gay Men's Chorus Artistic Director, is an active performer singing regularly with the St. Martin's Chamber Choir, Denver's only fully professional chorus. At present, Ben is completing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Choral Literature and Performance at the University of Colorado.
Rick Miller: Principal Accompanist, is a founding member of the Denver Gay Men's Chorus, singing as a First Tenor. He has held the position of Principal Accompanist for the past 16 years, and continues to sing with the chorus on occasion.
The Denver Gay Men's Chorus: Founded in 1982 by Robert "Melba" Moore, the chorus today is made up of over 100 volunteer singers from primarily the Denver metropolitan area. The chorus produces three concert series’ each year: spring, June Pride and Holiday. In addition, the chorus sings at over 10 community outreach events each year. http://www.rmarts.org/dgmc.php.
