Live Nation proudly presents PUNK ROCKS 2009 featuring THE OFFSPRING at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Thursday May 28. Special Guests Alkaline Trio, The Vandals, Street Dogs and Frontside Five will open the show.

The idea behind Punk Rocks is to create a more traditional, old school punk rock festival for Colorado and host it annually in the most spectacular setting possible; the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre.
The line up for the 2nd annual Punk Rocks show at Red Rocks once again features vintage old school punk rock; acts like Offspring and The Vandals mixed with the much newer sound of Alkaline Trio. Throw in the Street Dogs’ gritty street punk vibe and local skate punk heroes Frontside Five and you have a show as solid as Red Rocks itself. With the addition of the 3 Kings Tavern stage this year, Punk Rocks will be able to feature more local punk rock acts as well. This year Forth Yeer Freshmen, Boldtype, The Outta Controllers and Red Stinger will bear the torch for the Denver scene.

The Offspring - The Offspring is an American punk rock band formed in Huntington Beach, California around 1984. The band is credited, along with fellow California punk bands Green Day and Rancid, with reviving mainstream interest in punk rock in the United States during the mid-1990s. To date, The Offspring has released eight studio albums, one compilation, four EPs and three DVDs. They have sold over 50 million albums worldwide, making them one of the best-selling punk rock acts of all time.

Alkaline Trio - Alkaline Trio was brought together in 1997 by heartbreak, angst, and the companionship of drinking. The three started making a name for themselves all throughout the Midwest with their emotion-fueled, angst-ridden, dark pop-punk. Their first full-length, Goddamnit!, was released in 1998 to the praise of a following who related to their heartbreak tales and anti-cop rants.

The Vandals - The Vandals are an American rock band established in 1980 in Huntington Beach, California. Formed as part of the second wave of American punk rock, the band has released ten full-length studio albums and two live albums and have toured the world extensively, including performances on the Vans Warped Tour. They are well-known for their use of humor, preferring to use their music as a vehicle for entertainment and sarcasm rather than as a platform for more "serious" issues.

Street Dogs – Hailing from Boston, Massachusetts, the Street Dogs have an ability to craft unique, thought provoking music that has helped the band amass a dedicated following over the years. Singer Mike McColgan, having served in the Gulf War and as a Boston firefighter, draws on a wealth of life experiences and observations to inspire his impassioned vocal performances, adding a touch of sincere urgency to the non-stop fist-a-cuffs of teeth-gnashing rock that the band is known for.

Frontside Five – Having come to life in a downtown Denver garage during the summer of 2002 by a group of friends who shared a common idea, Frontside Five created original, fast, powerful skate rock inspired by the things they loved and hated the most. The things they love; skate sessions, loud music, good friends, and cheap beer. The things they hate; anything that does not include the items listed in the previous sentence. Frontside Five, now in their sixth year, are leaving a notable mark on the punk rock world.
