“Pump Boys and Dinettes”

Conceived and written by John Foley, Mark Hardwick, Debra Monk,
Cass Morgan, John Schimmel and Jim Wann.

Directed By Kelly Van Oosbree

On Highway 57, somewhere between Frog Level and Smyrna, stands a gas station. Across the blacktop is a roadside eatery called the Double Cupp Diner. The four guys at the station, Jim, Jackson, Eddie, and L.M. have been known to do some auto repairs, but only when aided by quantities of time and beer. The Cupp Sisters, Prudie and Rhetta, celebrate their home cooking with the same zeal they bring to being neighborly with the boys. Together, performing on guitars, piano, bass and, yes, kitchen utensils, they fashion an evening of country western songs that received raves on and off- Broadway.

Performance Now Theatre Company proudly presents “Pump Boys and Dinettes,” October 10 - 19, at the Lakewood Cultural Center, 470 S. Allison Parkway. Performances are Fridays & Saturdays at 7:30 p.m.; Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets are $24 and are available by calling 303-987-7845 or online at www.performancenow.org

The original performance group of "Pump Boys and Dinettes" consisted of John Foley, Mark Hardwick, Debra Monk, Cass Morgan, John Schimmel and Jim Wann. Not only did the members of this group write the musical, they starred in the Broadway production and directed it as well. The musical premiered on Broadway on February 4, 1982 at the Princess Theatre and closed June 18, 1983 after 573 performances.
