1.) Non-Profit Marketing and Coaching by Laura Arnesen
Arnesen, a 25-year marketing, fundraising and communications veteran will focus on helping non-profits to grow by making publicity a priority and helping leaders to think like marketing professionals. "When economic times are tough, non-profits need to stay in the public eye, be creative, and supplement existing fundraising initiatives," says Arnesen. "We'll focus on new strategies that can be implemented without much expense. My workshop brings a business perspective to growing non-profits in a very practical way."
2.) A Tax Workshop Focusing on the New IRS Form 990 by Wallace W. Tapia, Certified Public Accountant
This session will cover new and expanded reporting requirements; disclosure and governance considerations; and tips for compiling both the qualitative and quantitative information non-profits need to communicate their mission and accomplishments clearly, completely, and with appropriate transparency.
3.) National Life Group Charitable Foundation Grant Applications by Martha Trombley Oakes
In the third workshop Martha Trombley Oakes will detail new procedures and partnership opportunities with National Life Group and the National Life Group Charitable Foundation. She will explain new procedures for grant applications and describe eight different ways National Life Group and the charitable foundation can help non-profits.
During lunch time non-profit leaders will have the opportunity to meet with National Life Group employees about their volunteer needs.
"We recently implemented an employee volunteer policy where up to 40 hours of volunteer time each year can be considered as paid work time. Now our 800-plus Montpelier-based employees are an even more important resource for local non-profits," says Trombley Oakes. "We are extremely pleased to enhance local volunteerism by putting our employees in closer touch with the needs of our community."
