PSYCHOTICA http://www.psychotica.net/home.html
Imagine a band who gets signed to a major label after their first rehearsal, is invited to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at their first gig and asked to play Lollapalooza at their second. Sound totally crazy? But it all happened to the New York group Psychotica. Psychotica was founded in 1994 by singer Pat Briggs (also of Impotent Sea Snakes), an alumnus of the glam rock outfit R.U.Ready who was at the time managing the small New York City nightclub Don Hill's. Encouraged to form a new band to boost club attendance, Briggs teamed up with bassist and Don Hill bartender Tommy Salmorin to found Psychotica, soon bringing aboard original White Zombie/Youth Gone Mad guitarist Ena Kostabi, and Nine Ways to Sunday (also with Danny Lohner of NIN) cellist Enrique Tiru Velez. The band released 3 albums and toured with bands such as tool, Soundgarden and the Genitorturers before disbanding in the late 90's. After a 10 year break Psychotica reunited in late 2008 at which time they partnered with Toxic Shock to re-release their third album Pandemic. The re-release was fallowed up with a new E.P. titled "Black Dahlia" and a 2010 US tour with My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult. The Band is currently getting ready to record a full length album, with a May 2011 release date, and a documentary after.
