PSU Weekend 2008

October 18, 2008 Starts: 8:30am Ends: 2:00pm

Continuing its long tradition of addressing current affairs and cutting edge issues, this year’s PSU Weekend will emphasize travel, culture and embracing diversity. This community educational event will be October 17-18, with Seminar Day and the keynote speaker on Saturday, October 18.

The keynote speaker, award winning author Paul Theroux, will talk on “Changing Times; Changing Tracks” a firsthand account of a radically altered world recounting Paul Theroux’s journey, Ghost Train to the Eastern Star at noon. Theroux is author or coauthor of over 50 books and the recipient of the James Tait Black Memorial Prize for his novel The Mosquito Coast.

New this year to PSU Weekend is our ‘Global Marketplace’ that will feature fair trade goods for purchase through Global Sistergoods and the JFR Foundation. PSU Capstone students and faculty will be present to display and discuss their educational work and progress in developing countries around the world. The 'Global Marketplace' is a connection between faculty, students, alumni and the community to celebrate the efforts we do to make a difference. Stop by and check it out!
