Providence Hospice of Seattle patient care volunteer trainings May 8, 2013

Providence Hospice of Seattle is seeking patient care volunteers to offer essential practical and emotional support to hospice patients and their loved ones in King County.

Patient care volunteers, who are required to go through extensive training, may provide respite for caregivers, companionship for patients, transportation to appointments, or assistance with errands, household tasks, meal preparation, and yard work. Patient care volunteers must complete the core training and patient care volunteer training offered by Providence Hospice of Seattle. The next Core Training session, which is required before a volunteer may attend Patient Care Training, begins on May 8, 2013. Other Core Training sessions will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on June 6, July 24, Aug. 14, Oct. 9 and Dec. 5, 2013.

Once volunteers complete the initial Core Training session, they are required to attend five meetings. The June and September training sessions are:

June 15, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
June 20, 5 to 9 p.m.
June 27, 5 to 9 p.m.
June 29, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

September 2013 Session
Sept 12, 5 to 9 p.m.
Sept 15, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sept 19, 5 to 9 p.m.
Sept 26, 5 to 9 p.m.
Sept 28, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Anyone interested in volunteering with Providence Hospice of Seattle must submit a volunteer application by e-mail or regular mail. Once the application is received, a representative from Providence Hospice of Seattle will schedule an orientation interview.
