John Negroponte, US Director of National Intelligence, currently oversees at least 15 intelligence agencies and a multi-billion dollar budget, purportedly to seek out "terrorists" around the world. However, Negroponte's track record has shown time and time again that the real terrorist resides at 3100 Cleveland Avenue NW. During Negroponte's tenure as US ambassador to Honduras (1981-85), he oversaw CIA trained death squads murder, rape, disappear and torture. As US Ambassador to Iraq, John was responsible for the proliferation of illegal detentions, detention facilities (including overseeing Guantanamo Bay), kidnappings, torture and rape. Moreover, as Ambassador to Iraq, Negroponte played an instrumental role in securing an IMF loan to the Iraqi shadow government. A condition associated with the loan was a mandatory increase (as much as 400%) in oil prices.

Despite Negroponte's egregious past and present, he lives quietly and safely day in and day out on Cleveland Avenue. It's time we break the silence and rise up against this monster. Last month, on June 22nd, there were 40-50 of us there to oppose this criminal as we heard from torture survivor Carlos Mauricio (for more info see dc.indymedia.org/newswire/display/134382/index.php). Let's make it 100 this time as we continue to demand justice!

Join the DC Anti-War Network as we march ON HIS 67th BIRTHDAY, July 21 at 7 PM, to 3100 Cleveland Avenue NW to say NO to Torture! NO to disappearances! NO to attacks on our civil liberties through super secret spy agencies! NO to murder and rape!

On the day he celebrates his birth, join us in condemning his life.
