The former ambassador to Washington will explain why he doesn't believe that Britain's newspapers need tougher controls and explore how journalistic standards and the role of the press in public life can be preserved in the internet age.

Sir Christopher Meyer has been chairman of the Press Complaints Commission since March 2003. He is also a non-executive director of GKN.
