NAMA RUPA:

"Nama Rupa's conscious, laid-back vibe stands on its own. Nama Rupa has been reshaping Madison reggae. They're on the verge of redefining the Madison sound." - Rich Albertoni, The Isthmus

"Nama Rupa...plunging earnestly and urgently into reggae's syncopations and political rants." - The Onion

Nama Rupa is a fresh and soulful musical energy from the Midwest, currently with a home base in Madison, Wisconsin. Lending a hand to the "one love" reggae community, Nama Rupa has shared the stage with Lee "Scratch" Perry, Devon Evans of The Wailers, Sister Carol, Natty Nation, Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad, Jah Roots, The Cool and Deadly, Chicago Afrobeat Project, The Beautiful Girls, Heavyweight Dub Champion, Public Property, The Drastics and many others. Dubbed by the press as a "reggae hybrid", Nama Rupa's three members offer a fresh blend of conscious, reggae dub with strong funk, hip hop, and rock undertones. Eclectic beats, catchy melodies and a psychedelic vibe keep fans dancing; while the lyrics, flowing from self-reflective to socially critical, keep them thinking. Nama Rupa has developed a remarkably healthy fan base throughout the Midwest in a small time period, performing at venues from Eau Claire, WI to Springfield, MO and everywhere in between and is preparing to move into the national scene.

Whether fast or slow, the songs are always groovin' and Nama Rupa is sure to keep any venue on their feet, dancing and thirsty!

DJ TRICHROME:

Trichrome has had music flowing through his veins since the day he was born, drumming since the age of 5 and playing with his dad’s records. DJ Trichrome is a rarity in today's DJ scene. While most DJs are using computers to match their beats and mash-up tunes with the click of a mouse, Trichrome is spinning vintage reggae, dub, and dancehall on 7″ vinyl. His crates are deep and he’s got the skills to pay the bills. Trichrome’s high-energy analogue sound speaks to the soul. Trichrome has been involved with reggae soundsystems since 1998, first with Pacesetter Sound then with Formula Sound in Madison until 2001. Moving to Minneapolis, he then formed III Kings SoundSystem, dropping roots & culture every Monday night for over 5 years at Rudolph’s & every Wednesday for over 3 years at The Nomad. Trichrome ran things at the Cabooze every Thursday for over a year, djing with the ever fresh & funky New Primitives. Now back in Madison, he has been the resident DJ at the Great Dane/Fitchburg & Hilldale for three years, also playing clubs like The Majestic, Crystal Corner, Memorial Union Terrace, Natt Spil, The Merchant & The Annex with local & national acts. 2011 was a super irie year, starting it off djing the 311 Day Cruise & joining forces with SOULmgmt, becoming the latest in his arsenal of bad ass DJ’s!

Trichrome has had the honor to share the stage with The Meditations, Burning Spear, Justin Hinds & The Dominos, Israel Vibrations, Pato Banton, Aswah Greggory and the Enforcers, Michael Rose (Black Uhuru), Groundation, John Brown’s Body, Yellowman, Eek-a-Mouse, Lucky Dube, Culture, Mikey Dread, Les Nubians, Kottonmouth Kings, Sublime, 311, Pepper, & Ballyhoo just to name a few.

Catch Trichrome across the country…and on the 2012 311 cruise!!
