Each year Headlands awards Graduate Fellowships to recent MFA graduates in partnership with esteemed Bay Area academic institutions. Guest curated by Christian L. Frock, Present Tense celebrates the work made by these artists during their year at Headlands. The program is unique in the country for addressing this critical juncture in an emerging artist's career, giving aspiring post-grads opportunities for professional development and a chance to define their practice outside of the academic context. Join us for the opening to celebrate the artists works, as well as an opportunity to have lunch in our renovated Mess Hall cafe.

Art looks, feels, and sounds different at Headlands. From artist-guided walks to dinners, exhibitions, conversations, and performances, Public Events are designed to be experiential, to connect visitors to artists and the creative process, and to create opportunities for genuine engagement. We are always cooking up new ways to engage, experiment, delight, and provoke. Come and see, then come back for more.
