What does the future hold for electric vehicles, plug-in electric hybrids and revolutionary battery technologies? Come find out at the Nano Lunch, sponsored by the International Association of Nanotechnology, on Thursday, July 24, 11:30 a.m .- 1:30 p.m.

Dr. Chris Mi, Chief Technical Officer of 1Power Solutions, Inc, will discuss the pros and cons of HEV’s (hybrid electric vehicles), energy storage challenges, power electronics, emerging issues in HEV and new opportunities in HEV-related fields. We will also show clips from the controversial documentary, “Who Killed the Electric Car?”

Dr. Mi is an Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Michigan, Dearborn. He regularly offers a graduate course in electric and hybrid vehicles. He has also taught courses and led seminars on the subject for the Society of Automotive Engineers and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. He has conducted extensive research and published more than 100 articles on power electrics, motor drives, electric and hybrid vehicles.

1Power Solutions, Inc. specializes in battery management system (BMS) and battery packaging integration for systems integrators. In addition, 1Power has developed patent-pending charge balance ICs (BIC) that ensure all battery cells are charged within +/- 2mV.

We will also welcome guest speaker Jerry Pohorsky, Silicon Valley Chapter President of the Electric Automobile Association, who will discuss the latest developments in the arena of electric vehicles. The EAA is a nonprofit organization formed in 1967 to promoe the use of electrical vehicles as a viable transportation alternative that is efficient, economical and ecological.

IANANO will also present a brief overview of its clean tech/nanotech training programs and resources. Cost is $10/non-members; free to members.
