You are invited to attend the Portland Area Global AIDS Coalition's free social gathering on September 28 from 6 to 8:30pm. As an added incentive, we'd like to let you know that Portland's own Brothers of the Baladi will be performing! This will be a rare opportunity to see Portland's longest-lived world-music ensemble in a rare local performance. If you don't know the Brothers, please read on:

Brothers of the Baladi bring forth infectious and authentic sounds from ancient instruments, adding Western influences to the delight of audiences everywhere. This versatile band of Brothers have been blazing trails in World Music for over thirty years, playing traditional offerings and bridging cultures from the Middle East to International Rock n’ Roll. They tastefully mix acoustic instruments (oud, saz, kanoon, mizmar, etc.) and vocals in seven languages, (English, Turkish, Arabic, Farsi, Persian, French, & Spanish), with exotic rhythms and familiar grooves. Their passionate and original music leaves audiences stirred and inspired.

This event is for individuals and organizations interested in global AIDS and other international development issues. Everyone is welcome!

Come share stories, music, wine, light appetizers and non-alcoholic beverages.

Organization representatives are invited to give a five minute presentation about their work in the field this summer. Please contact Britt Rosenberg ([email protected]) if you are interested.
