Portastatic, formed in the early '90s, is the solo project of Mac McCaughan, most notably recognized and hailed within the indie rock canon for his band Superchunk and as co-owner of Merge Records. The new album 'Be Still Please' features a complete rock band sound with wonderfully crafted pop songs with melodic hooks to spare, while taking a more lush and orchestral turn than previous work, incorporating woodwinds and strings. Choo Choo La Rouge has an original "good time" sound.
