There are plenty of books and a great deal of soul at the Port Eliot Lit Fest. This is the 5th year of the festival and by now it has hit a groove that makes other literary festivals seem just a tiny bit dull by comparison.

No two Port Eliot lit fests have been the same and, although we have regular contributors, be they wordsmiths, orators, poets, raconteurs, or just have the gift of the gab, they never put on the same show. We are working on the programme for this year, and at this early stage of development we cannot tell you everyone who will be coming or what they will be doing. However, some of the performers who have agreed to attend this year are, so far: William Dalrymple, Alexander Masters, Gautam Malkani, Hari Kunzru, Francis Upritchard, Gavin Pretor-Pinney, Gavin Turk, Deborah Curtis, Ekow Eshun, Murray Lachlan Young, Zina Saro-Wiwa, Kamila Shamsie, the chefs of Fifteen Cornwall, and many more to come. And the fame of our celebrated film tent now stretches beyond the confines of the festival itself. Where else could you attend an anti-war rally held by Sally Potter, watch Pawel Pawlikowski and Mike Figgis geek-out about the process of making film, hear Martin Parr reveal all about life behind a lens, and then make and screen your own mobile phone movie, all in the same weekend?
