We welcome our friends from Poetry Atlanta for an all-star Poetry Atlanta Wordsmiths Birthday Takeover, featuring some of the biggest and best local poets in the city. Curated by Poetry Atlanta head and local verse-layer Collin Kelley, Saturday's Poetry Atlanta Birthday Takeover features Kodac Harrison, Megan A. Volpert, and Karen Head.

Kodac Harrison is a singer/songwriter and spoken word artist. He has recorded more than a dozen albums, including his latest, Dreams & Nightmares. 7 Stages Theatre presented his first stage production, Reach for the Moon, based on Harrison's poetry and music, earlier this year. He is the host of the award-winning Java Monkey Speaks Open Mic and Reading Series in Decatur and co-editor of three Java Monkey Speaks anthologies. Megan A. Volpert is the author of the collection, Face Blindness, which is a Georgia Author of the Year nominee, and Domestic Transmission. Her next collection, The Desense of Nonfence, is forthcoming in 2009. She has toured the country, participated in slams, and released an acclaimed spoken word album under her non de plume, Dr. Madelyn Hatter. Karen Head is the author of Shadow Boxes and two forthcoming collections, the award-winning My Paris Year and Sassing. Her work has appeared in dozens of journals. She is the graduate communications coordinator and special advisor to the writing and communications program at Georgia Tech.

All three poets have graced the Wordsmiths stage before, and all are amazing. Collin himself might even bring a surprise or two to the stage.
