Time to tempt your palate with all the pleasurable flavors that Southern California has to offer. Join Pleasure Palate as we do some culinary exploring of restaurants (both high-end and holes in the walls), various food and beverage tastings, cooking classes, potlucks and so much more. From savory to sweet, from salty to sour, from spicy to tangy, from exotic to All-American, we'll taste it all, so come along and take your taste buds on the ride of their life.

You may not have known this, but September is "Chocolate Month", or at least, I'm declaring it Chocolate Month. :) For this special time of the year, we will be celebrating this sweet sensation through a few chocolate-inspired events. For today’s event, it’s all about educating our palates at Mel & Rose Wine and Spirits, whose artisan chocolate selection is one of the best in Southern California.

During this 2 hours class, we will begin training our taste buds to detect subtle different chocolate “notes” & percentages of cacao. Like fine wines, great chocolate can be appreciated by experiencing the different and often complex flavor “notes”. If you’ve ever wanted to learn more about this & enhance your chocolate eating experience…then this is the class for you!

Chocolate is magic! The Latin species name of the plant from which chocolate is made literally translates to “Food of the Gods”. There is no other food that brings such contentment and joy to billions of people of all ages around the globe each day. Chocolate is America’s favorite flavor.

Chocolate has a cerebral effect that is reminiscent of the feeling of being in love or a temporary attainment of bliss. There is a tremendous difference between chocolate candy found in supermarkets & truly great (gourmet) chocolate. Great chocolate is a culinary work of art & cannot be mass produced (as the process takes time, attention and the finest of ingredients).

Join us as we taste samples from 6 different plantations (ranging from 33%-99% cacao content) from world renowned, French “bean to bar” manufacturer, Michel Cluizel.
