Oakland native Dan Marschak returns to Yoshi’s to celebrate his debut album Likewise with an exciting group of rising stars.
Instead of a standard trio album, Likewise steers clear of conventional formats to explore an array of genres, instrumentations, and textures. From progressive compositions and soulful vocal features to Latin-tinged originals and bluesy solo piano.

Dan is currently pursuing his MA in composition at UCLA, and studied jazz as an undergraduate with such luminaries as Kenny Burrell, Tamir Hendelman, and James Newton. In addition to his own ensembles, Dan has composed works for symphony, wind ensemble, choir, and short films.

Renowned vocalist Kalil Wilson and saxophonist Hitomi Oba will be featured throughout the performance as bassist Tommy Folen and drummer Miles Senzaki will round out the rhythm section.
