San Francisco Performances is proud to present renowned pianist Ingrid Fliter in a program featuring works by Bach, Chopin, and Schumann.

The concert begins with Bach's famous "Italian Concerto in F Major, BWV 971" and is followed by a variety of Chopin compositions, with the second half of the evening featuring one of Schumann's finest creations, the expressive and virtuosic "Symphonic Etudes, Opus 13."

In January 2006, Fliter was named the recipient of the 2006 Gilmore Artist Award making her only the fifth pianist to have been so honored. The Gilmore Award is made to an exceptional artist who, regardless of age or nationality, possesses broad and profound musicianship and charisma and who desires and can sustain a career as a major international concert artist.

This is Fliter's second appearance with San Francisco Performances. She made her San Francisco recital debut with SFP in March 2007.

Born in Buenos Aires in 1973, Fliter began her piano studies in Argentina with Elizabeth Westerkamp. In 1992 she moved to Europe, where she continued her studies in Rome with Carlo Bruno and with Franco Scala and Boris Petrushansky at the Academy "Incontri col Maestro" in Imola. She has also participated in master classes with Leon Fleischer, Alexander Lonquich and Louis Lortie.

Fliter began playing public recitals at the age of 11 and made her professional orchestra debut at the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires at the age of 16. Already the winner of several Argentine competitions, she went on to win prizes at the Cantu International Competition and the Ferruccio Busoni Competition in Italy, and in 2000 was awarded the silver medal at the Frederic Chopin Competition in Warsaw.
