Phoenix Objectivists 1st March meeting March 13, 2008

For our first March meeting we will be joined by Richard Morris who will give a lecture titled: 'Religion is Child Abuse'.

Not the diddling done by priests, religion is much more sinister.

Nothing is good about faith. Once one gives up reason to decide truth, a person must turn to feelings for answers.

To teach faith-based beliefs to people leads to intolerance, and wars --- both large and small.
To instill baseless fear in children is not only cruel, but renders them less able to deal with existence, and when unable to make their faith-based beliefs fit reality, to give up in despair — in the false belief of a better life after death.

In short, as Richard Dawkins & Christopher Hitchens claim and Richard Morris will point out, such is child abuse.
