Violinist James Garlick has been hailed by critics as an "up and coming virtuoso" and his 2009 recital with pianist Judith Cohen was named by The Gathering Note as one of the ten "Best Concerts of 2009." James made his Carnegie Hall concerto debut performing the Saint-Saens Introduction & Rondo Capriccioso to a packed house in the Isaac Stern Auditorium. He has performed concerti with many orchestras, including the Northwest Sinfonietta, Seattle Baroque Orchestra, Cascade Symphony, Octava Chamber Orchestra, and Port Angeles Symphony. In May, he will perform the Brahms Double Concerto with cellist Joshua Roman and the Everett Philharmonic. James is the new violinist of the critically acclaimed Onyx Chamber Players and frequently performs as Concertmaster of the Northwest Sinfonietta. He earned degrees from Oberlin College and Conservatory in both violin performance and neuroscience and is currently pursuing a Master's degree at the Juilliard School as a student of Sylvia Rosenberg. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, skiing, sailing, and exploring the Pacific Northwest.
