Charles Robert Stephens' performances include leading roles with the New York City Opera and at Carnegie Hall with the Oratorio Society of New York, the Masterworks Chorus, Musica Sacra and with Opera Orchestra of New York in a large variety of roles. Since his relocation from New York City to the PNW in 2004, he has sung with virtually every opera company and orchestra in Washington State , including the Seattle Opera ( Amelia-cover), Tacoma Opera( Germont in La Traviata, Sharpless in Madama Butterfly), and Spokane Opera ( Scarpia in Tosca. He has performed Elijah and Beethoven's Ninth Symphony with Seattle Pro Musica and Portland Chamber Orchestra and Messiah with Seattle Symphony, Portland Baroque, Bellevue Philharmonic, Santa Fe Symphony and Helena Symphony. This season he debuts with the Oregon Symphony in Mozart's Mass in c, Boston Early Music Festival in Niobe, Queen of Thebes by Steffani and returns to Seattle Symphony in " Opera Festival", Helena Symphony as Sharpless in Madama Butterfly and with the American Classical Orchestra as Jesus in Bach's St. Matthew Passion at New York's Cathedral of St. John the Divine this season. He teaches at PLU and privately in Seattle.
