Peter Ackroyd's stunning new book Thames: Sacred River, is an exploration of London's most enduring symbol, and an extraordinary history of the river from source to sea. Ackroyd walked the length of the river to research the book and the result combines anecdote, spirit of place, narrative and character in his distinctive style.

This vast canvas features historical figures such as Caesar, Samuel Pepys and William Morris, but also illuminates the geology, smells and colours with equal relish. Peter Ackroyd discusses his work and takes questions from the audience.
