Those who have not yet learned the skill of persuasion often look with envy upon people who comfortably take control of a disagreement and steer it to consensus. To many people, negotiation connotes only two options – either be a steamroller or be a doormat. But there are ways to get what you really want while building good relationships with those on the other side of the table. In this course, participants will learn the basic skills of persuasive communication, from resolving disputes to dividing the work on a group project to negotiating major contracts. Each class will involve group exercises, including mock negotiations and class feedback.
