The Women is a comedic commentary on the young New York Society matrons of the late 1930’s revealed through the perspective of playwright Clare Booth Luce. Centered around Mary Haines, and her cheating husband, comes the story of the pampered lives and power struggles of various wealthy socialites and up-and-comers. The story unfolds through the gossip that surrounds the women, which propels and damages their relationships.

The Women, Luce’s second play, opened on Broadway in 1936 and was later adapted into film in 1939. Directed by Sharon Madden, theatre professor at Loyola Marymount University, the cast of 31 women will bring to life the original play with period costumes and an age-old tale of gossip and relationships.
