Pedrito Vargas y su Grupo Ashe is Seattle's first Timba band. Timba is contemporary Cuban dance music that combines the elements of traditional Cuban music (like Rumba, Son Montuno) with funk, R&B and hip hop to create rhythmically explosive and infectious dance music. Hailing from Havana, Cuba, Pedrito Vargas is the former percussionist of Barbarito Torres. Torres is a veteran of the legendary Buena Vista Social Club and a 2004 Grammy nominee.
