Got a question about tricky contract terms? Wondering how to protect yourself and still win those big accounts?

Submit your questions in advance to [email protected] and our speaker will select and present responses to some of your difficult legal questions. The deadline for submission of advance questions is February 4, 2008.

Our February 7 dinner meeting will be an interactive "Ask the Expert!" session, focused on consulting contracts. Our speaker will be business lawyer, Ian Stock, who has over 20 years experience in international and domestic commercial law. Stock is an engaging and energetic speaker, and will answer as many of your questions as time permits.

Here are a few examples of questions you may wish to submit:

* What elements should be included in contracts to protect my intellectual property rights?
* What's the difference between a standard consulting contract and a "work for hire" contract?
* What are my rights as a subcontractor if the lead contractor is not paid by their client?
* What should I look for in a contract with a client based outside the U.S.?
* Am I exposed to more risk if I subcontract work to other consultants for my client project?

SPEAKER
After leaving a New York corporate law firm and moving to Silicon Valley in 1997, Ian J. Stock became Special Counsel at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, working with a wide variety of top-level high-tech and biotech companies. From there, he served as SVP & General Counsel for a publicly-traded semiconductor manufacturer.

Wanting to focus on working for those less able to engage a major law firm, Ian founded EntrepreLaw in 2005 to help entrepreneurs and smaller technology companies obtain a big firm lawyer's advice. Ian helps his clients negotiate IP licenses and other commercial transactions and come to terms with their strategic partners. He specializes in joint ventures and other more complicated transactions as well as international deals.
