Embarcadero & Mission
San Francisco, California

Announcing a new temporary art installation made possible by Dogpatch organization, The Black Rock Arts Foundation (Burning Man's non-profit sister organization dedicated to supporting and encouraging collaborative and interactive public art)...

Dan Das Mann and Karen Cusolito's mother-and-child sculpture, 'Passage', which debuted at Burning Man 2005, is at this moment almost completely installed in its temporary home on Pier 14, the newest public access pier on San Francisco's waterfront.

Join us on Friday, June 16th for two exciting events to dedicate the new pier and welcome this outstanding public artwork to our city!

++ Press event/Dedication ++ (Open to Public!) Friday, June 16th 11 AM Pier 14 (Mission and Embarcadero)

On Friday, June 16th at 11 AM, 'Passage' will be dedicated in conjunction with the opening of Pier 14, San Francisco's newest public access pier. A former breakwater, Pier 14 has been reenvisioned as a 600-foot stroll out into the bay for a breathtaking new perspective on the city, coastline, and bridge -- a novel new setting from which to appreciate Passage, the new Pier's first temporary art installation. Join us as we dedicate this fantastic new public space, and be among the first to get a look at 'Passage' in this location!

++ Public Opening and Community Celebration ++ Friday, June 16th 6 PM Followed by reception and celebration at Sinbad's Restaurant (adjacent to Pier 14)

This festive public opening is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday June 16th. Join the fun as we celebrate Dan and Karen and all the other amazing people who have poured their effort and energy into making 'Passage's' San Francisco visit possible. Post-opening, all are invited to Sinbad's Restaurant (nearly adjacent to the install site) for a No-Host Bar Reception & Celebration from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Pirate attire optional.

For the past several weeks 'Passage' has resided at Vast Engineering in Oakland, where a dedicated group of volunteers worked to refurbish and prepare the piece for public exhibition – and the sculptures look incredible! We hope to see you at these events!
