Local stop-and-go post-punkers PAPER MICE smash together the musical intensity of a disjointed BLOOD BROTHERS release and the gruff vocals of a man who has just shot his last nerve, and are sure to inspire twitchy dance patterns, if not violent abandon and rioting in the streets. Quirky one-man band TRIN TRAN returns, playing deconstructed, disjointed discofunk for the artschool set. CRUCIFORMS open with their ambient, surreal compositions that are at once strange and supple -in the words of the Chicago Reader, "CRUCIFORMS' satisfying grasp of pacing and dynamics makes me think of early DIRTY THREE, with the violin replaced by piano, which together with the guitar leads the rhythm section down various cinematic paths."
