Paco Peña brings the true spirit of flamenco to audiences all over the world. As guitarist, composer, dramatist and leader of the Paco Peña Flamenco Dance Company, he builds inventively on the deep foundations and traditions of flamenco.

His performances constantly renew this archetypal Spanish art form expanding its horizons, yet never losing touch with its visceral emotion. In this, his new show called Quimeras directed by Jude Kelly, Peña draws on his own experience of living in Andalusia, the gateway to Europe for many north African immigrants seeking a better life . The result is a brilliant show that marries both traditional Spanish and African music and dance, creating a spectacle of virtuoso performances and intimate storytelling which The Daily Telegraph described as ‘breathtakingly beautiful’ after its world premiere at the Edinburgh Festival.

‘…so hot that the dancers don’t so much wear holes in their shoes as scorch through them’
