The Oakland Youth Chorus celebrates its 35th anniversary with a vibrant, free community music festival in downtown Oakland. Come watch and listen to our award-winning youth performers, their world-renowned teachers, and other special guests as they perform song, dance and percussion from cultures around the world to commemorate the incredible spirit and longevity of OYC. The diverse sounds and rhythms from Afro-Caribbean to Bach are sure to tickle your ears and put a beat in your body. There will be special guest performances by OYC's Alumni Choir, the original members of Vocal Motion, Chelle! and Friends, and OYC Alumna Valerie Troutt. This is a celebration you won't want to miss!

The Oakland Youth Chorus (OYC) provides a multi-cultural music education and performance program for youth, fostering talent, confidence and community. OYC was founded in 1974 to nurture the talent of Oakland's youth and support friendships among Oakland's many cultural groups. Since then, OYC has grown from a single community youth chorus to a multi-faceted program serving over 1,000 children and youth ages 5-21 each year. OYC's mission focuses on creating and sustaining programs of high artistic merit that are accessible to and supportive of children and youth who might otherwise not be able to experience the joy of making music with others.
