The performance, conducted by Opera Orchestra's Music Director Eve Queler, will feature the critically acclaimed Cuban-American coloratura Eglise Guitierrez in the leading role, Amina. The story of La Sonnambula is the interesting psycho-physical manifestation sleepwalking. Amina is a delicate, sweet, village girl whose sleepwalking confuses the townspeople into thinking she's unfaithful to her fiancé Elvino. Of course, she's exonerated and all ends happily. The role of Amina is one of the tests of a great soprano; long passages of coloratura, grand leaps, long-breathed melodies and soaring high notes. For lovers of great singing this is a performance not to be missed.
