For anyone who enjoyed Syriana, Good Night and Good Luck, North Country, or Murderball, Participant Productions has just announced the release schedule for their newest film, An Inconvenient Truth, the Al Gore documentary on global warming. (See the trailer here).

Because a film's opening weekend almost singlehandedly dictates how long it stays in theaters, Participant is encouraging people to pledge to take friends and family members to it on their website. The film opens in NY and LA on May 24 and many more cities the following week. Check here for listings to find out when it opens in your town. (Most are June 2, 9, or 16).

If anyone wants to go see it with me on June 2, I'll be hitting it at the SF Embarcadero that weekend.

P.S. The Zellerbach talk was cancelled (labor issues), but there was a free showing of the movie instead. Anyone catch it?

I went to the free screening. Luckily, I got there really early because they turned a few hundred people away.

It was even better than I thought it would be. Definately see it opening weekend.

There is a flickr group I'll be posting some photos in

Just got this in the Landmark Cinemas email:

One of the biggest indie films this summer may be the powerful, enlightening, and frightening examination of global warming as seen in AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH.

Tickets are already on sale via moviefone.com for the June 2 opening at Embarcadero Center Cinema (daily showtimes 12:00 2:20 4:40 7:10 9:30 good through June 8.)

Celebrate opening night with the film's producer Lawrence Bender and local eco-glitterati at the After Party at The Holding Company following the 7:10 pm and 9:30 pm shows, featuring Square One organic vodka cocktails, wine & beer, hors d'oeuvres, and even some cutting-edge solutions to global warming.

The Holding Company is a short walk from the Cinema at Two Embarcadero.
