Las Cruces, NM – From Friday, November 5 through Saturday November 27, 2010, the Branigan Cultural Center presents an exhibition of artist Barbara Howe’s paintings in “Enchanting New Mexico”.

Ms. Howe is originally from Wauwatosa, Wisconsin and moved to New Mexico with her husband, Charles, after a vacation convinced them that, “this "Land Of Enchantment" casts magical spells on both of us.” At that time, Ms. Howe’s artistic interests lay in pottery and she joined the Potters Guild of Las Cruces but, after taking a class in painting with watercolors, she turned her attention to that media as “it makes me more observant and adds another dimension to my existence.”

Ms. Howe is a signature member of The New Mexico Watercolor Society and is the recipient of many honors and awards for her works in watercolors and acrylics in juried shows. Her works have been exhibited in New Mexico, Texas and in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. She hopes that the public will “….discover the magic and the beauty of this, the soul of the Southwest, my New Mexico, my home."

The Branigan Cultural Center is located at the north end of the Downtown Mall in Las Cruces at 501 North Main Street. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 9a.m. to 4:30p.m. For more information, contact the Branigan Cultural Center at (575) 541-2154 or visit the Center’s website at las-cruces.org/museums.
