Starting Sunday, June 24, the Dept. of Conservation and Recreation and Community Boating Inc. will begin offering a summer sailing program on the Charles River for people with disabilities, their friends, and families.

Dates:
Thursdays, 11AM-3PM, 6/28 - 8/30, Saturdays, 10AM - 2PM, 7/7, 7/21, 8/4, 8/18, 9/1, and Sundays, 10AM-2PM, 6/24, 7/29, 8/12, 8/26, 9/9

Persons with disabilities and their guests will have the use of accessible sailboats and transfer equipment, staff assistance to get in and out of the boats, and sailing instruction. Several seat configurations in the boat are available for people with various disabilities. Community Boating will charge each participant $1 (One Dollar)

The sailboats in this program - modified 15 foot keel Mercurys and 23 - foot Sonars- allow participants to either learn how to sail or simply enjoy a ride on the Charles. The boats have been adapted with supportive seating as well as higher booms so people do not have to move from side to side when the boat turns.

Advance registration is required. Call Community Boating at 617-523-1038, ext. 23.
