The New Mexico Watercolor Society - Southern Chapter, will exhibit the works of 12 local watercolorists as part of this year’s For the Love of Art Month Event. The show, entitled “Around The Year in Las Cruces,” opens at the Branigan Cultural Center on Friday, February 5, with an artists’ reception from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The public is cordially invited to both the reception and the exhibit which continues through February 27.

The show will consist of twelve small paintings, with each artist offering their interpretation of a month in Las Cruces. The show includes work from the following members: Jan Addy, Donna Ayres, June Decker, Melanie Stone Jack, Regina Nelson, Penny Simpson, Lois Smith, Arlene Tugel, Laurel Weathersbee, Carlos West, Donna Wood and Phil Yost.

The Southern Chapter of the New Mexico Watercolor Society was founded in 2001 to serve the seven southern counties of New Mexico. Monthly meetings, which are open to the public, are held in Las Cruces and include painting-related programs.
