Jeremy Hill had a great outlook on life and knew exactly what he wanted from it. He was greatly talented, both creatively and intellectually, but also had a heart full of love for his family. Although their time with him was short, Jeremy’s family and friends will cherish the memories of his independent spirit, his enthusiasm and his successes.

Born in Battle Creek, Michigan, at the old Community Hospital, on January 24, 1973 to his parents Kim and Ronda Hill. Jeremy came into the world weighing in at 6 lbs. 7 oz. and 19 in. long. Jeremy was raised by his mom and step dad, John (Gary) Bolt. Jeremy and his father spent a lot of special time together. Jeremy became big brother to Mitchell, John, Joshua, Jacob, Joanna and Jessica, and there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for his siblings. Jeremy had a very special relationship with his aunt Marcia and cousin Tammy.

From a young age, Jeremy was pretty sure of himself and made it known that he was his own person. The way he went about things may not have always been conventional, but he made things happen. As a youngster, he used to take the knobs off of everything around the house, including doors and dresser drawers, which wasn’t always a helpful thing, but sometimes funny. At the young age of five, Jeremy got real creative when looking for a way to earn some extra money. He decided to go around collecting his neighbors’ Battle Creek Shopper guides, which were free to area residences, and then selling them door to door for 25 cents.

It was obvious to everyone that knew him that Jeremy was a bright boy. He enjoyed tinkering around with anything electrical or mechanical, but his true calling was as an artist. Jeremy won several awards for his creative art pieces, and was also named Best in Show at the Science and Art Fair in Battle Creek two years in a row. But his artistry didn’t stop there; Jeremy was also a talented musician and singer and wrote many of his own songs. In order to pursue his passion as an artist, Jeremy left Pennfield High School before graduating to move to California in search of that dream. While out there, he started his own security systems business called, Matter Aligned and ran it for about six years, while also continuing his art. He made quite a few bronze sculptures and began showing art through photography. He was also well known at many Bay area open mics.

In his leisure time, Jeremy liked to go camping and hiking whenever possible. He and his brother took a trip once to Yosemite National Park, where they spent several days hiking around the park. With his gentle spirit and a smile that could light up any room, he loved meeting people and entertaining everyone with his fun loving ways. He was the kind of person that if you were his friend, you were his friend for life. No matter how far away he was from home though, Jeremy always held his family close to his heart, and he never missed a chance to tell them how much he loved them. It is a gift none of his family will ever forget.

Jeremy Scott Hill died on Sunday, December 9, 2007.
