Come and look at fascinating celestial objects (eg. Jupiter) through some of the largest telescopes in the UK (weather permitting). All this plus spectacular hands-on science exhibits and exhibitions.
The Observatory Science Centre occupies the site of the former Royal Greenwich Observatory. On open evenings, three of the large historic telescopes are available for you to look through, plus our more modern 16-inch telescope and the smaller scopes of volunteer amateur astronomers. The Science Centre's 100 hands-on, fully interactive exhibits will also be available to explore aswell as the fantastic exhibition telling the story of the Royal Greenwich Observatory. For Stargazing LIVE, experts will be on hand to guide you through the wonders of the night sky including the constellations.

Special requirements

The site is historic and a grade II* listed property with high walkways and steps. It is a dark area and therefore we recommended that you bring a torch with you (prefarably red light). While we try our very best to accomodate wheelchair users with ramps to most areas, some of the telescopes can only be accessed via narrow stairs.
