Colour Me Pop and Redlight Productions Present...

Sunday, March 15 @ Darkroom, 7pm, 21+

Next up: some Massachusetts pop in the Midwest!

ONE HAPPY ISLAND
One Happy Island make the sort of music that’s just perfect for the Ides of March. We’re tired of winter. Meteorological spring is mere days away on the calendar but the weather couldn’t feel further away from green grass and sunshine. You need something to make you see that happiness is never far away. How about some handclaps (hooray!)? Some sweet-as-pie girl/boy vocals? The pure loveliness of upbeat pop songs?

One Happy Island have all of that. Surely the snow will melt and the sun will shine when the band bring their terrific tunes to town. Plus we’re fans of anyone who is a fan of the Lucksmiths (with whom they share a jaunty, jangly sort of feel in many of their songs).

It really is an evening of weePOP! goodness. One Happy Island have a weePOP! release in the shape of a delectable slab of blue vinyl. Luscious!

VERY TRULY YOURS
Fresh from their fantastic performance opening for The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Very Truly Yours return to make us swoon with their sweetly romantic sounds. If you saw them at that show, you know that they are Chicago’s best current pop band. If you didn’t see them, then you absolutely must get to the show on time to be won over!

The bandhave been causing a stir in pop circles around the globe, after having released an EP on weePOP! with their prior band, The Lorimer Sound, being included on a current weePOP! compilation, and releasing a Cloudberry split single at the start of the year. We are lucky to have such a brilliant band in our own city. My favorite song of theirs right now is “Love is Hard.” Let me know what your favorite is after the show.

BLACK DIAMOND BAY
Montreal, Quebec (Québécois?) residents Black Diamond Bay are touring in anticipation of their debut album entitled “Calm Awaits.” In addition, singer Patrick Krief plays with the Dears. We do love intra-band swapping!

*********

Local go-go dance troupe The Revelettes will be pulling some shapes before One Happy Island go on. And of course, we will also be playing the finest indie pop tunes before (starting at 7pm promptly!), during, and after the bands. Because we’ll be in a proper club with a proper dance floor, we would love some dancing, ok? Get your requests in now!
