Image-guided Radiation Therapy

If Image-guided Radiation Therapy, or IGRT, is a new term for you, you are not alone. Available at OHSU only since the Spring of 2007, this new form of delivering precision radiation therapy to a tumor has the double benefit of providing more effective treatment at the tumor site, and also offering better protection to adjacent, healthy tissue. The guided element of this therapy comes from anatomical information provided by different forms of CT scans, a series of low-dose x-ray images, or signals sent by small implanted markers. Dr. Fuss is professor of radiation oncology and radiation medicine, and director of OHSUs Program in Image-guided Radiation Therapy.

This is the final lecture in the 2007-2008 Marquam Hill Lecture series. To receive information on the 2008-2009 series, please sign up o the mailing list in the lobby of the OSHU Auditorium after the lecture, or telephone (503) 494-4240.
