Artists Lois Klassen from Vancouver, Canada, and the University of Salford's Mary Oliver have come together to create 'Offit', an exhibition which combines performance art, video installation and interactivity.

The exhibition opens on 23 July at Salford's newest gallery, Hub M3, a previously empty shop which has been taken over as a gallery space by the University of Salford's School of Art & Design, in conjunction with partners from across the city.

During their six-week residency, the artists have been exploring the area around the gallery, which is just on the border of Salford and Manchester. As travellers and explorers, the artists are considering the imbalance caused by the presence of cultural production in urban spaces.

'Offit' - Salford vernacular for 'not on it', 'out of sorts', or 'not quite right', is an installation in which the visitor finds themselves confronted with things that are 'Offit - not on it'. This exhibition asks: 'does art produce a condition of offit?' and 'is this a useful condition from which to view the process of urban regeneration?'

The exhibition features interactive video, one-to-one performances, and a set of public conversations, 'Offit Offsite'. Through this exhibition the public is invited to see the work and talk about making and presenting art in Salford.

Opening reception - July 22 6.00pm.
