Enjoy wine, dance and dialogue with ODC/Dance "unplugged!" This evening features a behind-the-scenes look at the latest dance piece by ODC Artistic Director & Founder Brenda Way, "In the Memory of the Forest."

"In the Memory of the Forest" is an exploration of human will, resilience, and ingenuity, inspired by Way's late mother-in-law, Iza Erlich, who, as a teenager in 1941, walked away from the Warsaw Ghetto. "Her story of intrigue, grit, and humor offers a hopeful note in our own tumultuous times," says Way. "In the Memory of the Forest" is Ms. Way's paean to hope and the human spirit, in collaboration with video artists David and Hi-Jin Hodge, composer Jay Cloidt, and lighting/set designer Elaine Buckholtz. The final work will premiere at ODC/Dance Downtown at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, March 12-29, 2009.

Don't miss this rare opportunity to engage with the work in an "unplugged" environment, share your thoughts and feedback and connect personally with ODC's world-renowned choreographers and dancers. The wildly popular series exemplifies ODC's spirit of innovation and exploration.

A post-show discussion with the artists will follow the performance. Enjoy complimentary wine and light fare at a pre-show reception at 6 pm.

"As the evening progresses you come to know and admire each performer."
-Deborah Jowitt, The Village Voice
