In their first-ever collaboration, choreographer Sarah Michelson and playwright Richard Maxwell team up to create a provocative narrative ballet unlike any Swan Lake for Michelson's company of dancers and Maxwell's veteran actors. The evening will be a homecoming for Michelson who made her first work at ODC Theater 20 years ago in ODC's long-running Pilot Program. Today, she's widely regarded as one of the most promising dance makers in the country. Her works are stark, simple, and elegant, with an ironic twist. Richard Maxwell, Artistic Director of the New York City Players, is an award-winning playwright and director and a legend in New York's experimental scene.

"Devotion" is a co-production of Sarah Michelson, New York City Players and Chapter Art Centre, Cardiff, Wales. Devotion is commissioned by The Kitchen, On the Boards and The Walker Art Center. "Devotion" is a National Performance Network (NPN) Creation Fund Project co-commissioned by The Walker Art Center, in partnership with ODC Theater and On the Boards and NPN.
