Tonight's Program: Pianist Helen Sung grew up in Texas where she studied classical piano at Houston's High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. She became interested in jazz at the University of Texas at Austin. Sung switched to jazz after being accepted to the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Performance at the New England Conservatory of Music. Since graduating from the Institute in 1997, she has performed with many jazz greats including Slide Hampton, Benny Golson, Buster Williams, Wayne Shorter, Regina Carter, Steve Wilson, and Lonnie Plaxico.
