the notes and scratches (from chicago)
empty house cooperative
brian michael roff and the deer

Notes and Scratches make little songs overflowing with trumpets and shakers and saws and claps and singing and double basses and organs and pedal steel and drums hit very hard and pianos played light in the later hours. Featuring current and/or former members of the Treatment, Where the Moon Came From, the autumn-waking, the Sleeptights, the Fruit Bats, the Delta Still, the Shiny Ghosts. The songs are celebrations of both joy and trouble, getting older gracelessly, dancing shamelessly, loving recklessly and sometimes regretting all of it, entirely.

Empty House Cooperative is improvised music with David Michael Curry and friends, most often including Jonah Sacks, Thalia Zedek, Chris Brokaw, and others.

In 1993 Brian Michael Roff came up from NJ and met some friends. He played music with them and met more friends. The group of friends grew and became known as the Deer. They wove tangled webs.
