I don't know if y'all will want to have a picnic this day because of the weather/temperature but we'll see. If we do have a picnic, I am thinking this will be at a pavilion somewhere around the pool area. They may even have one with a fire place. Details later.

The hike;

It is strenuous (up and down hills) but there is a half way point for those who get tired. There is one spot where you have to step up the roots of a tree about three steps. And some of the trail is sloped to the side. We will also need to cross a stream several time on rocks and logs. These features are all on the first half of the trail. The second half is mostly dirt or gravel trails. I recommend hiking shoes.

Just throwing out ideas; maybe if we get a lot of people and someone wants to lead an easier hike, we can do that as well. There are plenty of trails and I can help map something out if need be.

We moved this to Sunday. I can also do this Nov 1st if y'all want to move it up a week. It seems the leaves are falling early this year. Weather is calling for low 44 - high 63 degrees and sunny on the 1st.

I was also thinking of cutting out the northern loop of this hike and allowing more time in the very southern turn which is where the stream is (tripods) and the highlight of the hike. This is also part of the Rachel Carson Trail. I was also going to do the hike backwards so we are walking up the stream. Duquesne Light has the right-of-way to part of the park which changed the trails around the mid north-eastern part of the loop.

We can meet at Lone Pine pavilion. I did not reserve it but it should be open this time of year. It is number 66 on this map and is in the furthest right section of the park.

This is the other half of the map which just list the pavilion in the legend.

We should start the hike at 10:00 AM.

Here is a link to the flickr discussion if anyone finds this through upcoming.
