Celebrate the opening of Nick Cave: Meet Me at the Center of the Earth with a party featuring entertainment by Jef Stott and the Embarka Soundsystem — a powerful musical fusion of Middle Eastern tradition with cutting-edge electronica — plus Campari cocktails and the fabulous YBCA crowd! Nick Cave: Meet Me at the Center of the Earth is the largest scale presentation of Cave’s career and features Cave’s shimmering soundsuit sculptures. The soundsuits seem poised to explode into dance and ritual while exploring issues of ceremony, identity and myth. The many layers of meaning woven into the physically beautiful soundsuits intrigue, overwhelm, challenge and seduce the audience. The 08-09 performance season concludes with a truly remarkable mash-up of performing and visual art in YBCA’s Gallery, when renowned choreographer Ronald K. Brown offers YBCA audiences the unique chance to experience Cave’s soundsuits in motion.
